1 Stare on Thu Oct 01, 2009 2:38 am

Little signs were always there
Though no one noticed and no one stared
If they had they might have found
Something was wrong, and all was not sound
Comments were always "She's a dreamer"
"Lost in a world you cannot reach her"
Only at 28 a label was attached
One that looking back always matched
By the time it was recognised it had progressed
Life threatening but took 10 months to assess
Daily seizures, dozens at a time
At first they said it was all in my mind
Then the proof seen on MRI
Damaged, scarred, an answer to why
Only now as they refer to my past
They realise my genes also play a part
Not just head trauma but locked in DNA
Always a part of my day after day
Memories surface and people say "Yes"
"I remember your frequent stares"
So how come it took so very long
To find out that there really was something wrong?
But still every day I think myself lucky
There's much worse to live with than Epilepsy
I've had a peek of how others live
That's why I built a forum to give
Hope and support to others out there
With nowhere to turn, and no one to stare
